You can't push the limits unless you know what the limits are.
Rules & Regulations
Starting at midnight on May 1st, 2006 until midnight May 31st, 2006 the celebration will be open to the public. All times are Pacific Standard Time.
Levels of free time vary between each participate. Given this notion, no judgements will be placed on those that can only do the least amount of participating - i.e. upload a photo. Lack of submitting a new photo within a five day period will result in the removal of the users account.
Participations do not need to shave clean in order to begin this celebration. If one were to have 4 weeks of prior growth and decided to fashion this into a moustache for a month it would be completely as accepted as an individual that had no growth on the celebration start date. This is a celebration, not a contest.
Pushing the limits of the moustache definition will not be allowed and may possibly end a user up in the Hall of Shame. Beards and connecting goatees are not allowed. A little additional flair (chops, soul patch, chin growth) are all perfectly acceptable but the focus of growth must be the upper lip / moustache area. If the participant questions if their configuration meets this criteria, it probably does not. Having a moustache is an undeniable way of life.
By supplying a photo for upload and display during Moustache May 2006 the participant enters into an agreement stating the following:
- The photo is, in fact, the participant
- The photo has not been altered by digital means in regard to enhancing facial hair growth, shape, or density.
- The photo may not contain added text, graphics, or clipart unless in participation with a themed day.
Images supplied by the participant must be in JPEG format sized no smaller than 450 pixels in width cropped to a 4 x 3 aspect ratio (see Figure 49). Photos may not contain profane gestures, nudity, hateful imagery, or turkey sandwiches.
Only one image per day may be submitted to the celebration. Submission of more than one image per day will result in the previous submitted image to be overwritten and all comments and ratings for that image removed.
Notice: The Moustache May server operates on Pacific Standard Time. A 'new day' does not start until midnight on the United States West Coast. Please take note of this before submitting an image.
Failure to comply with these rules and regulations will result in the participants account to be sequestered into the Hall Of Shame. Participants placed within these shameful halls will no longer have access to their account and, thus, image upload will be forever suspended for them. Ridiculing members of the Hall Of Shame is the equivalent of beating a dead horse.
No one wins at a party. Everyone does. There will be a "Faster Moustache" award to a different participate for the duration of the contest but no physical prize or overall winner will be declared.
Have no doubt that this is as much a social experiment as it is a bonding of like minded individuals through an internet forum. Get out there and show your stache love.
