6:30am, May 5th. Cloudy, air temperature 44 degrees Fahrenheit, and its starting to rain. The lake will be frigid, still in the 30s. Ice only got out fully in the last couple of weeks. Damn, I wish I had a wet suit. Three layers of light capilene will have to do. Ok.. risks.. lets see. 1) hypothermia. Hmm, how much time. Says here that 32-40 degree water can cause unconsciousness in 15 minutes. The photo shoot should take 5-10 minutes for the surface to settle and get a few angles. I'm good. 2) heart attack. Hmm, here's a page on yahoo answers, 'can you die from jumping in ice cold water?' 11 answers.. yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes no and yes... so..hmm.. yes. Upside? Ah yes—a sweet pic of my Octopus emerging from an ice cold lake at dawn. That's worth a lot for sure. But I have three kids to think of.. yes.. think of the kids.. yeah.. the kids..
Yeah, the kids will be stoked to have this pic when I'm gone.
