Spent time this weekend at a Renaissance Fair(e). These things are such an odd mix of a little bit hippie, a little bit theater student, a little bit craft fair, combined with an exceptionally loose historical re-enactment element, all presented with a Star Trek Convention vibe, and a hint here and there of kink.

And deep fried Oreos.

It had been a while for me, Adam, so the whole general good-natured weirdness of it was felt fully. I think it's interesting that it's such an American, as opposed to British phenomenon. (Thanks about the CLAME)
