On marla: I better understand what you were saying now. She was less prominant in the book. As I remember she was the only charactor that, in the end, you are certain is a real person. And her importance is probably more in being the straw that broke the mental camel's back and leading into (what in the book anyway) may have been a complete fabrication of the damaged mind. Loved both the movie and book, but when the bomb goes off in the movie it implys that some part of the delusion was real and true. When there is no explosion in the book and he ends up committed, it made me wonder if ANY of the story was actual or if it was ALL in his head. Loved that ending way more.
