I'm not sure hiding is ever really possible, hale.
Attempting to be as concise as possible:What I learned in clown school is - clown is not a character, it is yourself, magnified, in all its flaws, vulnerabilities and charm, for all to see. The red nose being the tiniest mask you can wear. 100% masking to unmask.
I think I'm learning I need a larger mask than that to let it all hang out though.
Makes me wonder some about how moustaches might function...
@Zea, thank you for the response. As you hint at, I wear a my mask everyday, it being either a moustache or a beard. I am unsure where the line falls though, I believe I both hide behind it and expose who I am. I could liken it to the painted shield of a warrior, the image displayed lets others know who they are facing, simultaneously protecting the vulnerable insides.
I have other thoughts on this as well.
Your photo and the alternate made me think of clame, which....
Whoa, I should definitely have been paying more attention here. I'm sad I missed taking part in this discussion.
Like hale, I wear a moustache or beard to simultaneously expose and protect myself. I find that the two styles are different enough to provoke a difference in how I portray myself, at least when I'm self-conscious. The first beard I grew was as much a deliberate sign of my youth as it was a rebellion against the razor.
