For better or worse, the Mackle-curated Facial Hair Expos have been the only men's club I've ever felt I belonged to as an equal and not merely a pretender. That's a priceless gift, you guys, and I'm sincerely grateful to all of you.

I'm also completely bowled over that you let me play this month at all. Maybe you didn't know. No, you knew. Didn't you? Don't tell me.

I wish I could have printed, cut and tributed all of you. I've felt an affinity with many of you that goes beyond what Internet acquaintance should engender. Did you feel that too? You've got a permanent place in this heart in Detroit, and a couch to boot should you pass through this way.

Take it off. Lay it down. See you later.

I think sometimes there's a place in all this craziness for an analytical problem-solver to connect those natural talents/skills to the artistic realm. It's given me hope for my analytical/practical mind to step outside the walls of the words I hem myself in with and join these visual wizards and match them toe-to-toe. This exercise, this project for you in May 2011 was to most what appeared as an example of genius but for you it was just great fun and proving you're worth your salt alongside the Bohemian painters, the artsy and technophile photographers, and the professionals all at once.

It may have been an exercise but you've more than proven your point. You've not only blown their minds but you've made them think. And it's something that will benefit everyone they come across.

Let's hang out sometime again. And I was serious about the tumblr. I'll even contribute.
