Let us begin our time honored tradition of talking about British Television shows. Lately I have been really immersed in:

QI
Baboons with Bill Bailey

and, sadly, that's it.

Maybe rnnbrwn or revgoomba could make some quality suggestions for us.

yes. hello.

revgoomba says:
@Mackle - I enjoy QI (despite it often being full of shit - as in non-true 'facts') but it depends on the quests. I love it when Vic Reeves is on, or Rich Hall, Johnny Vegas or Sean Locke. It can be hit or miss sadly. I've not seen Baboons with Bill Bailey, although I'm intrigued. Is it any good? I've just started catching up with a Glasgow-based sketch show (CLAME), although I'm not sure if the references are too local to be funny anywhere else.

rnnbrwn says:
Are you talking about Burnistoun or Limmy's Show, revgoomba? Both are worth a look if mackle or masonbernard can get a hold of them. The former's very Scottish, while the latter is both Scottish and weird.

"Campus" is currently being repeated on Channel 4 and, while I don't really like it, it has a "Green Wing" flavour to it (I'm presuming you've seen "Green Wing").

If you like panel shows, then "8 Out Of 10 Cats" is returning soon. It's not a great show, to be honest, but one of the captains, Jason Manford has been replaced by Jon Richardson, who I think is very, very funny.

I can't think of anything else of note that's been out recently, but if I do, i'll holla.

Sorry Ronnie... I was talking about Burnistoun. I don't know anything about it. I'd heard the name thrown about for a while - but only watched an episode for the first time last week.

Mackle says:
@revgoomba, I can't stand Johnny Vegas.. he comes across as an absolute moron but maybe he actually is? I am more prone to David Mitchell and his ilk. Baboons with Bill Bailey is just an interesting documentary series.. Bill Bailey is just kind of the narrator and a little funny. It's great if you're interested in how urban environments affect animals.

rnnbrwn, I could never get into "Green Wing" - I often have a hard time being consumed by legit dramas. I prefer a little comedy and levity in my TV viewings (mostly).

Have you guys watched that Showtime series "Episodes"? It's about two British writers that go to Hollywood to make the American version of their popular series and how quickly everything gets Americanized (read: made terrible). It's fictional but seems incredibly accurate and I recommend it.

revgoomba says:
@Mackle - I never used to like Johnny Vegas... but one day, while watching him something happened and that all changed. I since went back over older Johnny Vegas stuff that I'd previously hated. Suddenly I started laughing. How odd, huh? Anyway, I guess what I'm saying is I think there's a genius to Johnny that isn't as obvious as he makes us all assume it to be. Perhaps, in time, you'll see it to. Or perhaps not.

Here's a question: Who is your favourite comedian? Mine is Stewart Lee.
Posted: May 4th, 2011 - 3:10pm -
rnnbrwn says:
Just remembered - as it's on now - that Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle is back. Stewart Lee is a genius, as revgoomba suggests. Track down his Princess Diana joke from a filmed stand-up routine a few years back.

revgoomba says:
Uhuh... rnnbrwn speaks the truth.
Posted: May 4th, 2011 - 3:45pm -
Mackle says:
@revgoomba, not sure who my favorite comedian would be. There was a time when I would have said David Cross without batting an eye but I'm not so sure anymore. I think the Mighty Boosh guys are hilarious (mostly Julian Barratt) but not my favorite. At the moment I may go with Richard Ayoade or Matt Berry - just because I find them fascinatingly humorous in a very odd way. That's a bad answer but I have a hard time picking Favorites - I like different things for different reasons. Kind of a cop out answer but I'm standing by it.

rnnbrwn, Princess Diana joke and a Comedy Vehicle you say? Alright.. time to power up the Internet machine...

revgoomba says:
@Mackle - I'm reading his book right now (CLAME) and it's making me crack up on the bus each morning. Out loud laughter! I go see him at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh each year and I've yet to be any less than totally loving it.

@revgoomba, rnnbrwn, I downloaded Series 1 of Comedy Vehicle and I'm absolutely loving it. Thank you very much for the recommendation. If nothing else comes of Moustache May - I will consider this a true Win for me in terms of getting something legit out of it.

I wish I had something equally as entertaining to offer you! I will say if you're into the slightly gruesome / macabre that you should check out SuperJail and/or Ugly Americans.
